I am NOT a martyr – أنا مش شهيد!!

After the December 26th bombing that took place in Beirut, I received a call from one of the most interesting group of people I have ever met. After a heated discussion we decided it was time to break this norm, that when a bomb goes off and people die, Lebanese people just go about with their lives.

This is why we started this page;

I am NOT a martyr – أنا مش شهيد

A place for all those who believe that death is not a solution.

A place for all those who do not want to be called martyrs in vain.

A place to pay tribute for all those who died; are dying and will unfortunately keep dying in the future.

A place where we show the world that we care.

A place where we show everyone that we want change.

In memory of the bombing that took place on December 26th and that killed 9 people in Beirut; they are asking people to post a “selfie” of themselves on facebook and on twitter with the hashtags #notamartyr and #أنا مش شهيد; holding a sign of what changes they would like to see in the country.

It is a very simple initiative, but let’s start by letting everyone know that we exist, we want change and we care.

Let our voices be heard.

We are not Martyrs.
